The Filter Straw is ideal for stowing in your bag, pocket, backpack, luggage or car. The straw is designed for use with cups and bottles as you would with an ordinary straw. Suitable to use in rivers, lakes, streams, and untreated fresh water sources in any country. The straw comes with a Fast Flow filter but has an Advanced Filter attachment that can permanently convert the straw to provide Advanced filtering capability when needed. Filters as you suck through the straw.
Features:
• Filter Capacity (Advanced) = 100+ litres.
• Made from BPA free plastic.
• Carabineer and Advanced Filter attachment included.
• Comes with black case.
• Weight is 55 grams.
Q: What is the filter capacity?
A: Approximately 100-150 litres. This is a guideline and depends on the turbidity of the water.
Q: How will I know when the filter capacity is passed.
A: You keep using the straw until it becomes clogged and is too difficult to suck water through. Any water that passes through is safe. There is no need to count the litre or discard after any period of time.
Q: Can I buy replacement filters for the straws?
A: Not at this stage. When the straw is too clogged to suck through anymore water you can simply recycle the whole straw. Alternatively you can return the straw to us and we will recycle the plastic.
Fill2Pure is Seycvhelle's Water Filters Ltd's brand name for thier range of water filter products which contain their USA made Seychelle Filter.
The Seychelle patented Ionic-Adsorption Micro-Filtration System reduces up to 99.99% of the following zones of contamination instantly with no drops required:
Using medical technology we have created a uniform, absolute 2 micron pore size for the assured reduction and removal of contaminants. The high-tech porous plastic micro filter is impregnated with the finest granulated activated coconut carbon available and our exclusive adsorbing media. These omni- directional pores create a “torturous path” for superior analyte removal capability. Seychelle filter technology coordinates all processes of contaminant reduction by Adsorption, Absorption, chemical bonding, chelation, and depth filtration.
Seychelle has a worldwide exclusive license for the BIOSAFE® technology. BIOSAFE® is an effective antimicrobial polymer covering our filters that physically disrupts the target organism’s cell membrane, thereby reducing microbial contamination by four logs or 99.99%. BIOSAFE® is safe, non-toxic and non-leaching. It is EPA approved and tests were performed under NSF standards. BIOSAFE® patented technology has proven to be effective against bacteria, fungi (mould and mildew), yeast, algae and certain viruses. BIOSAFE® is colourless, tasteless, and odourless and has an indefinite shelf life.
All Seychelle filters, including the Fast-flow filter, reduce and remove contaminants found in water up to 99.99% including; aesthetics, microbiological, viruses, diseases, chemicals and dissolved solids. The Fast-flow filter is designed to have an extremely easy flow rate.
This filter is used in our products that are used by the military and humanitarian organisations in 3rd World environments. It uses the same filter that is in the Fast Flow filter but with the addition of an iodinated resin barrier that provides additional protection against viruses and bacteria to 99.9999%. Advanced filters are recommended for 3rd world travel or extreme survival use.
The filter technology: IAMF (Ionic Adsorption Micron Technology) is an advanced technology that has been developed, refined, and proven through extensive field and laboratory testing. Over the last 16 years, there have been in excess of over four million filters using this process in products placed all over the world. It is ideal for those facing the potential problems of nuclear contamination.
The basic design was to produce a filter that had the ability to reduce and remove up to 99.9999% of the five basic pollutants and contaminants that cause various diseases and death throughout the world. The five basic zones of contamination are:
Aesthetic (Chlorine, taste and odour), Biological (Pathogens), Chemicals (from Industry and Agriculture), Dissolved Solids (heavy metals such as lead, mercury, Chromium 6) and Radiological Contaminants such as Radon, Radon 222, Radium, Uranium and Cesium 137.
The filter is designed with a hard shell that is formed to exact or 1 or 2 micron absolute porosity depending on the product. The filter is impregnated with various proprietary media that have the ability to remove, absorb, adsorb, chemically bond and chelate different contaminants as they pass through the tortuous path designed in the filter. The basic media in the filter is a proprietary powder activated coconut carbon that has a surface phenomenon that causes a molecular attraction of substances to the surface of the filter. The rate or volume of adsorption or removal of toxic chemicals, radioactive contaminates and heavy metals is caused by the specific volume of medias used, their quality, and the flow rate of water passing through the filter.
The filter incorporates an extremely high-tech porous micro-filter system containing thousands of interconnected omni-directional pores resulting in a "torturous path" that cannot be duplicated, causing a tight maze for the water to travel through so that the water cannot channel, and giving the filter a uniform porosity and water flow. It is engineered from various polymers with controlled pore size. It acts as both a surface and depth filter with medias that are anti-bacterial. This design gives the filter a combination of filtering and structural strength.
The materials in the filter are FDA food grade approved, and the filter itself is manufactured under ISO 9000 standards. It has an indefinite shelf life.
Q: How do I get water out of the travelsafe bottle? A: If it is a new bottle, make sure you are not tipping the bottle upwards towards the sky as then water cannot flow up through the bottom of the filter. If the filter is on a stem or a straw, water must be sucked up through the mouthpiece, the base of the bottle must point toward the ground. If you have had a bottle for some time and the flow starts getting slower and becomes clogs, then it is time to replace the filter. Q: What does BPA-free mean? A: A BPA-free product is one which does not contain the compound BPA or Bisphenol A. BPA is a compound used to make polycarbonate plastics (clear, shatter proof plastics) and epoxy resins (glues and coatings). This compound has the same properties and mimics the effects of the female hormone estrogen. Research has shown that BPA has a negative effect on fetal and infant brain development and behavior. Links have also been made between BPA consumption and obesity. A study by the Yale School of Medicine in 2008 found a connection between BPA and the interference with the brains cells related to memory, mood and learning. Many other studies have been undertaken and have shown links between BPA and cancer, thyroid dysfunction, reproductive issues and attention deficits. All of our products are BPA-free.
Q: What is the sleeve on the bottle made from? A: It is made from Neoprene which is a synthetic rubber material (latex-free) which is most commonly used to make wet-suits. This is a fantastic water-resistant material that insulates and cushions. Most neoprene (and the type we use) is lead-safe and free of BPA, PVC and phthalates.
